Standard 6.1

     Students describe what is known through archaeological studies of the early physical and cultural development of mankind from the Paleolithic Era to the agricultural revolution.

Mysteries of Catalhoyuk

Daily Life in Ancient India

Well organized, and simply written essay on daily life in the Indus Valley.

Timeline of India

A well designed, well researched, and easily used timeline from ancient times to the present. The timeline includes links to additional informational sources about the caste system, Buddhism and Buddha, various groups who settled in the Indus Valley, Hinduism, and Alexander the Great's journey to the area. Ancient China (British Museum)

 

The site is divided into five 'chapters' which address themes or topics relevant to ancient China. Main topics include Crafts and Artisans; Geography; Time (how time was kept in ancient China; Tombs and Ancestors; and Writing (nature and uses of writing in ancient China).

Belief Systems Along The Silk Road

A lesson plan, with background readings--"Belief Systems Along the Silk Road" and "Quotations from Religious Texts"--suitable for middle school.

Buddhism and the Trade Route
