About the Library

Mission Statement

The library will support and enrich the instructional programs at Don Callejon School.  The library will provide access to, and instruction in the use of, current and appropriate multi-media resources selected to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading and the effective use of information and ideas.

Library Location

The Library, building C, is located between the Elementary and Middle School wings on the northeast corner of the campus.

Hours

Monday to Friday: 7:55 AM-3:00 PM    except    Wednesday: 7:45 AM-1:45 PM

When accompanied by an adult, elementary students may stay until 3:00 PM.

Services

· Provide instruction in the use of resources and equipment

· Provide an inviting environment to stimulate intellectual curiosity

· Provide help and resources for school projects

· Provide recreational books and motivation to inspire students to read

· Provide assistance to staff in meeting curriculum goals

· Provide help for students in the use of productivity software

Procedures

If a student has an overdue book, they may only check out books up to their grade level limit.

If a book is damaged or lost, the cost of replacement will be charged.

Library Rules

Students should show respect for each other, the staff, and the collection.

Students are not to bring food or drinks into the library.

Individual students must have a pass during class time to use the library.

Students are encouraged to ask the staff for assistance.

All Don Callejon School rules apply while in the library.

Internet Use Rules

Students must have a completed and signed Acceptable Use Policy form on file at Don Callejon School.

Students may not access chatrooms, instant messaging, and other inappropriate sites. 

Only staff approved educational games may be played on library computers.

Only Middle School students are allowed to use the computers during recess, lunch, or after school. They must sign in at the circulation desk before using a computer.

Elementary School students may only use the computers at the request of their teacher or by permission from the librarian.

Printing from the Internet is permitted when used responsibly for class assignments.
